Roonie B. Moonie: Lost and Alone by Janan Cain
|
About This Children's Book
Roonie B. Moonie yearns to be a great explorer like his hero, Christopher Columblebee. But, while exploring one day, he wanders into a dark, unfamiliar place and finds himself in one scary situation after another. Approached by a suspicious stranger offering to help, Roonie must rely on his mother’s guidance and on his instincts to keep himself safe.
Will he be lured away by a stranger? Will he find his way back home? How does he decide who can be trusted? Janan Cain’s delightfully illustrated story helps children understand the importance of following safety rules, staying calm, and trusting their feelings.

How can you not love a little bee in a propeller hat? The illustrations are just wonderful: whimsical, bright, fun! They remind us of David Kirk's Little Miss Spider. The story is well done, offering kids a reality-check without overplaying the dangers that life can present to them.
